Seeking Impatient People

Two months?? Two whole bloody months until publication?? I can't wait that long to read The Worth of Scars! I want it now!

Ever find yourself thinking along these lines? Desperate to read the debut of an unknown author with dubious credentials as soon as possible? Or, do you like to get in early? To be in the know? To be the cool kid who gets their hands on something the filthy shitmunchers out there in the rest of the world won't for ages?

Chances are you probably don't. Any of that. I know most of the people who read this blog, and I don't think this applies to any of you (except for you - you know who you are!) BUT if you fancy either helping me out, getting a free book or doing a bit of try before you buy, then this post might be for you.

Excerpt Stage Left

A portion of The Worth of Scars is now available. Out there, in the world, for free. Want to whet your whistle for the real thing? To see if it's worth the (very mild, if any) hype? Or maybe you don't want to read the whole (admittedly intimidatingly long) novel but are curious about what I've been working on for the last four years...

If so, you can get a hold of a continuous, four chapter, roughly fifty page sample of The Worth of Scars here. It hasn't gone through the final proofreads the published version will, so will likely be very marginally different and may contain errors, but it's close enough that I'm happy to put it out there for the world to see. I hope you enjoy!

ARC! The Herald Angels Sing

Are you an avid reader? Do you like fantasy books (or other fantasy media) in the mould of Game of Thrones? Have you ever been known to review a book online on sites such as Goodreads or Amazon? If the answer to at least two of those questions is yes, then I would be immensely grateful if you could offer me your services as an ARC reader.

One of the most important and difficult aspects of getting an indie book (or even trad published books, come to think of it) off the ground is amassing enough reviews to get it noticed. It's the first thing most people look at when browsing for their next book online, and choosing between a book you like the look of with a handful of reviews when compared to one with hundreds or even thousands is for most readers no choice at all.

So, to help get the word out and rack up those sweet, sweet reviews, authors and publishers send out free 'advance review copies' to those interested in the hope that they might deliver a verdict on the novel and share it publicly.

This is what I'm offering. You receive a free ebook copy of The Worth of Scars in the hope that you leave an honest review of the book somewhere other people can see it, such as Amazon, Goodreads, Bookbub or other famous book retailers. I cross my fingers in hope that the honest review will be favourable and that my fragile writerly feelings will not be hurt. No more, no less.
